ALUM--a pickling spice found in your grocery store in with the spices.  Use it to sterilize incoming plants.  Plants will have unwanted parasites & such, so soak them in a solution of 1 tablespoon per gallon of water for 24 hours.  Rinse.  Pot as usual.
NON-IODIZED SALT--1 Tablespoon per 5 gallons is .1%.  Add one pound of pure salt per one hundred gallons of water.  Therapeutic salt dose is 0.3% (three pounds of non-iodized salt per 100 US gallons of water  Salt is benificial in helping to prevent disease & promotes the natural slimecoat process. ***As with any type of "medication" do research first & be careful.  When adding salt, do it gradually over a period of 12-24 hours. Do not use salt if you have a planted pond.  |
