Name: BARLEY STRAW for String Algae |
Description: BARLEY STRAW for String Algae--save the netting that comes on fruit, vetegables, turkeys, etc & stuff them with Barley Straw. Place in pond where it can get some water flow around it (my ponds aren't filtered & I just stuff the bagged barley into a cinder block) & let the straw decay. It releases a chemical that is supposed to inhibit string algae growth. You can also get Barley Straw Pellets but I've not tried it yet. Works best if you remove as much string algae as possible first & it takes several weeks for the straw to decay enough to work.![]() |
